Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a SeniorManagerQuality Engineering you are accountable for defining and scaling the quality engineering system across multiple workstreams. You translate business strategy intoaclear technicalstrategyestablishingthe architecture standards and engineering practices that enable quality at scale.

This is a senior engineering leadership role responsible not just for outcomes within a workstream but for ensuring the entire QE system consistently produces high-quality scalable and efficient results across the guide Managers and teams shape long-term direction and make critical decisions that define how quality engineering is practiced across Vancity.

Technical Strategy & System Design

• ConvertingQE business strategy into aâclear actionable technical strategy
• Definingtheâquality engineering system including:
• Automation architecture (API-first layered testing)
• CI/CD-integrated quality models
• NFR engineering approaches (performance reliability security)
• Ensuringconsistency and scalability of QE practices across teams
• Definingâwhat good looks like for quality engineering across the organization

Engineering Direction & Standards

• Establishingand governingâengineering standards frameworks and best practices
• Makingcritical decisions such as:
• Automation architecture model
• Tooling strategy (buy / build / integrate)
• Evolution of UI vs API vs agentic testing approaches
• Drivingadoption ofâAI-driven and agentic automation techniques
• Ensuringalignment across workstreams to avoid fragmentation

Organizational Influence & Leadership

• Providingengineering direction toâQE Managers and teams
• Influencingsenior stakeholders acrossâEngineering Product and Delivery
• Guidingteams throughâcomplex technical and architectural decisions
• Actingas a key advisor to the Director of Quality Engineering on QE transformation

Scaling Quality Engineering

• Ensuringthe QE system is:
• Scalable across multiple workstreams
• Consistent in standards and practices
• Efficient in driving quality outcomes
• Identifyingand addressinggaps in tools practices and capabilities
• Drivingcontinuous evolution of the QE discipline

Risk & Long-Term Quality Effectiveness

• Owningsystemic risks:
• Architectural limitations
• Scalability constraints
• Long-term maintainability of test systems
• Ensuringthe QE model supportsâsustainable high-quality deliveryatscale

WhatYoullBring to the Team:

Experience & Leadership

• 15 years of experience in software engineering quality engineering or related field

• Proven progression through senior technical and delivery leadership roles (QE Lead QE ManagerSenior QE Manager)

• Demonstrated experience defining and drivingtechnical strategy across multiple teams or workstreams

• Experience leadingsenior engineers providingcleardirectionwhile developing individuals autonomy andinitiative

• Proventrack recordinfluencing organization-wide engineering practices and transformation initiatives

Technical Strategy & Architecture Expertise

• Deepexpertiseindesigning end-to-end quality engineering systems not just individual frameworks

• Proven experience defining automation architecture at scale(API-first and layered testing models integration of functional and non-functional validation etc.)

• Strong understanding of modern testing ecosystems includingAPI integration and UI layersand performance reliability and security testing

• Experience defining and evolving tooling strategy (buy / build / integrate) with a focus on scalability andextensibility

• Strong perspective on emerging approaches such as AI-driven agentic and spec-driven automationand where they provide valueto the businessat scale

Quality Engineering System & Operating Model

• Demonstrated ability to design and evolve thequality engineering system across multiple workstreams

• Experienceestablishingengineering standards common frameworks and patterns and consistent quality practices across teams

• Ensure QE practices arescalableand alignedwith enterprise delivery models

• Experienceidentifyingand resolvingsystemic gapsin tools processes and capabilities

Strategic Decision-Making & Trade-Offs

• Proven ability to make high-impact strategic decisions(automation architecture direction tooling investments and standardization evolution of QE practices etc.)

• Ability to balanceinnovation vs standardization engineering rigor vs delivery speedsystemhealthand resilienceover timevsshort-termprogramneeds

Cloud Platforms & Engineering Ecosystem

• Strong understanding of modern engineering ecosystems(cloud-nativeandmicroservicesarchitecturesCI/CD platformsDevOps practices etc.)

• Familiarity with platform-level quality engineering capabilities (shared frameworks services tooling etc.)

Analytical & Systems Thinking

• Ability to assess quality effectiveness across systemsidentifydependencies across teams and understand where failures originate and repeat

• Experience defining quality KPIs at an organizational level

• Ability to translate data into strategic insights andclearbusinessdecisions

• Focus on quality outcomesandsystemic changes not just local optimizations

Organizational Influence & Stakeholder Leadership

• Proven ability to influence seniorpartners inEngineering Product and Delivery

• Experience acting as atrusted advisoron engineering and quality strategy

WhatYoullEarn:

This role offersa salary rangeof$141100 to $191900per annum.The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications skillspreviousexperience and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program subject to program eligibility requirements.
