Job Summary
Position Summary
The Senior Drafteris responsible forproducing and coordinating all technical drafting and design documentation at York Precast. This is a hands-on individual contributor role that serves as the primary technical resource for shop drawings panel layouts and production documentation ensuring that all drawing outputs areaccurate production-ready and delivered on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Drafting & Documentation:
- Prepare and review shop drawings panel layoutsembeddetails connection hardware and lifting point documentation using CAD and Revit.
- Ensure all drawing packages areaccurate complete and aligned with project specifications and applicable codes.
- Maintain organized drawing records and version control across all active projects.
- Develop andmaintaindrawing standards and templates for York Precast.
ProductionCoordination:
- Work closely with thePlantManager and production teams to ensure drawings are clear executable and available ahead of casting schedules.
- Participate in production planning discussions to flag drawing readiness and resolve conflicts early.
- Provide real-time technical support to theplantfloor when drawing clarifications are needed.
Design Coordination & Stakeholder Communication:
- Liaise with structural engineers project managers and clients to clarify design requirements and incorporate revisions.
- Identifyand communicate design or production conflictsin a timely manner.
- Support estimating and project teams with technical input on drawing scope and production feasibility.
Technology & Continuous Improvement:
- Maintain drafting software and support integration with supplier or client platforms as.
- Identifyopportunities to improve drawing accuracy turnaround times and documentation consistency.
- Stay current with precast industry standards software updates and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Drafting Technology Engineering Technology Construction Management ora relatedtechnical field.
- 3 years of experience in precast drafting structural drafting or a related technical role.
- Proficiencyin CAD and Revit for structural and precast applications.
- Working knowledge of precast production systems panel design connection details and shop drawing requirements.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good communicationskills with the ability to work collaboratively across productionproject and engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel as.
