About the Role
The Senior Data Governance Analyst supports Teranets Data and AI Governance and Management Program by helping ensure enterprise data is trusted protected responsibly used and effectively managed throughout its lifecycle. Working with business technology Information Security Privacy Data Analytics Data Management Data Architecture and AI stakeholders this role helps mature governance policies standards controls risk practices metadata data catalogs DSPM retention and AI Governance capabilities.
Guided by Teranets governance strategy the role helps implement new technology-enabled governance capabilities and build the practical processes workflows automation and controls needed to operationalize them across tools platforms and business teams. It supports alignment with recognized frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK DCAM ISO/IEC 38505 ISO/IEC 27001 NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001 while enabling analytics reporting data lake expansion data architecture continuous compliance and Governed AI use cases.
What Youll Be Doing
Governance Program and Operating Model
- Support the operation and maturation of Teranets Data and AI Governance Program including governance forums initiative planning metrics issue tracking and program reporting.
- Develop review and operationalize governance policies standards controls procedures and stewardship practices.
- Translate policy risk data management and business requirements into practical workflows controls and operating procedures that simplify governance adoption and embed requirements into day-to-day ways of working.
Metadata Catalog and Data Enablement
- Maintain and improve metadata repositories business glossaries data catalogs lineage classification tagging and sensitivity labeling across structured and unstructured data environments.
- Partner with Data Management Data Architecture Data Analytics and technical teams to embed governance requirements into data products reporting assets data models platform designs and enterprise data standards.
- Support initiatives that improve the quality usability structure and governance of data used for analytics reporting data lake expansion architecture and AI-enabled use cases.
Risk Compliance Retention DSPM and AI Governance
- Develop and monitor data quality metrics identify issues and support remediation with business and technical stakeholders.
- Support privacy information security regulatory risk and compliance requirements including audits governance reviews risk assessments control mapping issue documentation mitigation tracking evidence gathering and continuous compliance monitoring.
- Support data retention and lifecycle management requirements including retention schedules records classification legal hold considerations disposition processes and evidence of compliance.
- Support DSPM activities including sensitive data discovery classification access exposure analysis control monitoring and risk remediation tracking.
- Support AI Governance requirements including responsible AI use AI use case intake model and data risk documentation oversight monitoring and alignment with recognized frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement and Stewardship
- Partner with data owners stewards custodians business stakeholders and technical teams to define governance requirements accountabilities and practical standards.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to resolve governance issues align priorities and support decision-making.
- Support training communications and change enablement to empower teams with the awareness responsibilities tools and processes needed to apply governance effectively.
Process Improvement and Enablement
- Identify opportunities to simplify automate or improve governance processes reporting data quality monitoring control evidence collection and compliance monitoring.
- Support the implementation and adoption of new governance technology capabilities including process design workflow development governance automation tool enablement control monitoring and operational rollout.
- Contribute to governance maturity assessments roadmap planning and continuous improvement of governance practices and tools.

Technical qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science Engineering Mathematics Statistics Business Data Management or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in data governance data management data architecture analytics risk compliance or a related field.
- Proficiency with data analytics and governance tools such as SQL Python Spark Excel Power BI Tableau Microsoft Purview Collibra Informatica Atacama or similar platforms.
- Experience with metadata management data cataloging lineage classification sensitivity labeling data quality reporting analytics enablement and enterprise data platform practices.
- Experience developing or operationalizing governance policies standards controls risk assessments compliance documentation procedures workflows and stewardship practices.
- Familiarity with governance automation continuous compliance control monitoring workflow design and implementation of technology-enabled governance capabilities.
- Preferred familiarity with DSPM data retention lifecycle management AI Governance and recognized frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK DCAM ISO/IEC 38505 ISO/IEC 27001 COBIT NIST AI RMF ISO/IEC 42001 or OECD AI Principles.
Lets Talk Pay
We believe in being upfront about pay and helping you make informed decisions about your career. The annual pay range for this role is $110000 - $132000 CAD inclusive of base salary and target incentive pay. Your salary will be tailored to reflect the experience you bring and the impact youre ready to have on this role.
