Fleetway is building the crew model for the Royal Canadian Navys next generation warship the River Class Destroyer (RCD).

This is a rare opportunity to take your operational Combat Systems experience and directly influence how Canadas future warships are crewed structured trained and sustained for decades to come.

As a Senior Combat Systems Technologist (Crewing) you will join a multidisciplinary team responsible for Occupational Analysis and Personnel Requirements (OAPR) activities for the RCD program. Working alongside military subject matter experts Instructional Systems Designers industry partners and Royal Canadian Navy stakeholders you will help define the roles competencies and personnel requirements needed to operate one of the most advanced naval platforms ever introduced into Canada.

Your expertise will help answer critical questions such as:

  • What does the right crew look like for a modern warship
  • How should Combat Systems teams be organized to maximize operational effectiveness
  • How can we balance capability readiness workload and sustainability
  • What skills and training will sailors require to operate and maintain future Combat Systems

The work you do will influence who sails aboard the River Class Destroyer and how crews fight operate and sustain the ship throughout its service life.



Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze Combat Systems and occupational information to support personnel and training recommendations for the River Class Destroyer program.
  • Plan coordinate and conduct occupational needs assessments for shipboard personnel and supporting shore organizations.
  • Lead workshops interviews and stakeholder engagements with Royal Canadian Navy personnel industry partners and subject matter experts.
  • Conduct ongoing updates to Combat Systems Needs Assessments as new technical information becomes available.
  • Research review edit and validate technical and occupational analysis documentation.
  • Support the development of the River Class Destroyer crew model through maintenance task analysis role validation and workforce planning activities.
  • Contribute to Occupational Analysis activities for Canadian Armed Forces trades associated with Combat Systems functions.
  • Support project planning scheduling reporting and work package management within the RCD Training Program.


Qualifications
  • 8 years of experience in the Royal Canadian Navy or equivalent naval environment
  • Experience at the level of Lieutenant (Navy) Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) or equivalent combination of experience and qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or contributing to complex naval or defence projects
  • Familiarity with project management approaches or methodologies
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel and PowerPoint

Assets

  • Experience conducting occupational analysis task analysis or training needs assessments.
  • Instructional Systems Design (ISD) experience.
  • Experience supporting fleet introduction force generation training or capability development initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Royal Canadian Navy crewing readiness and personnel management processes.
  • Experience facilitating workshops or engaging diverse stakeholder groups.
