Job Summary

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Location: Calgary AB (hybrid)

Type: Contract (6 months possibility of extension)

Responsibilities

As a member of the Corporate Accounting team this individual will have the opportunity to gain broad knowledge of the Corporate Accounting function with the responsibility for interest income and foreign exchange. We are seeking a Senior Accountant who has proven experience supporting the preparation of accurate financial information with keen attention to detail. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the team.

What youll do

  • Prepare and analyze monthly variance report for interest income and other
  • Record quarterly accounting entries related to restricted investments
  • Quarterly and annual accounting for insurance captive and insurance programs
  • Prepare MD&A and Financial Statement note disclosure for interest income and foreign exchange
  • Intercompany/Inter-affiliate settlements
  • Liaise with Finance Corporate accounting team members and IS for SAP testing related to intercompany and external loan set up and treasury derivatives
  • Supporting ad hoc analysis reporting requests and special analysis


Experience required

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 years of progressive related experience
  • Undergraduate degree in commerce/business or related discipline
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of consolidation accounting financial statement presentation and US generally acceptedaccounting principles
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP (ECC and BPC)
  • Experience working with multiple functional currencies
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective written and verbal communication to all levels of the organization
  • Proven team player with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships

Education

  • CGA /CMA/CPA
  • University Degree in relevant discipline
