Position: Full-Time Direct Hire
Location: Near Hamilton Ontario
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour (based on experience)
Shift Options
Day Shift: Monday to Friday 6:00 AM 2:00 PM
Afternoon Shift: Monday to Friday 2:00 PM 10:00 PM
Job Summary
The Robotic Weld Technician is responsible for programming troubleshooting setting up and maintaining robotic and resistance welding equipment to support production requirements and ensure weld quality standards are met. The role involves equipment maintenance quality inspections process improvements inventory monitoring and supporting continuous production flow in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Robotic Welding & Equipment Support
- Program troubleshoot monitor and maintain robotic and resistance welding systems.
- Perform robotic weld setup and obtain first-off approvals.
- Debug robotic programs perform path editing and optimize weld performance.
- Repair and replace weld guns electrodes and other welding components.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding and equipment issues.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to maximize equipment uptime.
- Review and support the implementation of new fixtures and welding equipment.
Quality Control
- Inspect welded joints and perform quality inspections and destructive testing.
- Verify welds meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
- Record inspection and test results and prepare reports as required.
- Recommend and implement solutions to improve weld quality and process efficiency.
Production Support
- Maintain continuous production flow throughout the shift.
- Complete daily event logs and communicate production updates between shifts.
- Monitor consumable inventory including welding wire gas electrodes nuts and bolts.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory checks as required.
Training & Team Support
- Assist in training operators on welding processes and quality requirements.
- Support supervisors with production-related activities and departmental objectives.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Maintain a safe clean and organized work environment.
- Follow all health & safety environmental and quality management procedures.
- Ensure compliance with WHMIS and workplace safety regulations.
Qualifications
- 35 years of experience in robotic welding resistance welding or automated manufacturing environments.
- Experience programming troubleshooting and maintaining robotic welding equipment.
- Strong understanding of weld quality inspections testing procedures and welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and production documentation.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Forklift and/or overhead crane certification is considered an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting communication and problem-solving skills.
Education
- Completion of a two-year technical college diploma/certificate in Welding Robotics Automation Manufacturing Technology or a related field or equivalent work experience.
