Key Responsibilities

  • Lead utility coordination activities for highway and bridge infrastructure projects from planning through construction ensuring timely project delivery and compliance with departmental standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison between project teams engineering consultants contractors utility companies and regulatory stakeholders on utility-related matters.
  • Identify assess and resolve conflicts between proposed transportation infrastructure and existing utility networks minimizing project risks delays and costs.
  • Oversee utility investigations documentation relocation planning and enabling agreements to ensure utilities are accurately located and coordinated prior to tendering and construction.
  • Review consultant reports utility conflict analyses and relocation strategies for compliance with departmental guidelines industry standards and best practices.
  • Support procurement and project delivery activities by contributing to project scopes Terms of Reference and the evaluation of consultant proposals related to subsurface utility engineering.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with utility providers industry partners consultants contractors and government stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and project outcomes.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement initiatives workshops and discussions to improve utility coordination processes agreements and project delivery practices.
  • Provide technical guidance training and mentorship to project teams and consultants on utility coordination requirements standards and emerging industry practices.
  • Develop maintain and enhance utility coordination policies standards guidelines and agreements to support continuous improvement and effective project delivery across the transportation network.
  • Prepare presentations briefing materials and technical recommendations for senior leadership project teams industry stakeholders and external partners.
  • Represent the department on industry committees and working groups contributing to the advancement of utility coordination practices and standards within the transportation sector.
