Role Summary
The Project Manager - Commercial Risk supports project teams throughout the project lifecycle by identifying assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks. This role provides guidance on contract interpretation claims management dispute avoidance and commercial strategy to help protect Modern Niagaras interests while supporting successful project delivery.

- Protect Modern Niagaras commercial interests through proactive risk identification assessment and mitigation.
- Support project teams with contract interpretation claims management dispute avoidance and entitlement preservation.
- Strengthen commercial governance and adherence to corporate risk management policies.
- Improve project outcomes by supporting informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify evaluate and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout all stages of project delivery.
- Provide interpretation of contract clauses and advise project teams on contractual rights obligations entitlements and risk exposure.
- Support project teams in maintaining robust project documentation to support claims dispute resolution and contractual positions.
- Assist project teams in developing proactive claim avoidance strategies to minimize commercial exposure and maximize entitlement opportunities.
- Support the VP Risk Management with commercial risk initiatives and project advisory activities.
- Participate in pre-award activities including contract reviews and risk allocation assessments.
- Support Procurement and Legal teams in the review drafting and negotiation of subcontracts Letters of Intent (LOIs) and Purchase Orders (POs).
- Participate in and support Project Advisory Committees in the assessment monitoring and mitigation of risk.
- Monitor adherence to corporate risk management policies procedures and governance requirements.
- Support claims management dispute avoidance dispute resolution and schedule-related commercial matters including extension of time (EOT) considerations.
- Provide commercial guidance and support to project teams on major infrastructure ICI and alternative delivery projects.
- Build collaborative relationships with project stakeholders to promote early identification and resolution of commercial issues.
Must Haves:
- 7 years of experience supporting large complex infrastructure industrial commercial or institutional construction projects.
- Experience working within a general contractor mechanical contractor or major project environment.
- Strong understanding of contract administration commercial risk management and project governance.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting construction contracts and commercial agreements.
- Knowledge of claims management dispute avoidance dispute resolution and schedule-related risk management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex commercial issues and develop practical solutions.
- Experience supporting project teams through multiple phases of the project lifecycle.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and review formal project correspondence.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder management negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Nice to Haves:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Quantity Surveying Finance Business or a related discipline.
- Experience with major infrastructure P3 Design-Build or Progressive Design-Build projects.
- Experience within the mechanical contracting industry.
- Professional designation such as . PMP PQS MBA or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience participating in project advisory governance or risk review committees.
- Advanced knowledge of schedule management extension of time (EOT) analysis and entitlement assessments.
- Experience supporting procurement subcontract negotiation and contractual risk allocation strategies.
This is a new position. Expected annual compensation; $105000 - $125000.
