The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning execution and delivery of commercial millwork projects from contract award through final installation and closeout. This role oversees all phases of manufacturing coordination and on-site installation ensuring projects are completed on time within budget and to quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in commercial construction environments a solid understanding of architectural millwork processes and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders including clients designers general contractors production teams and installers.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Manage the full lifecycle of commercial millwork projects from kickoff to final handover
Review contracts drawings and specifications to confirm scope milestones and deliverables
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules aligned with production and installation timelines
Lead project kickoff meetings and ongoing coordination meetings
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients general contractors consultants and internal teams
Proactively manage client expectations and maintain clear communication throughout the project
Coordinate with architects and designers on shop drawings RFIs submittals and revisions
Resolve issues changes and conflicts promptly to maintain project momentum
Manufacturing & Installation Oversight
Coordinate with engineering production and procurement teams to ensure manufacturability and accuracy
Monitor fabrication progress quality control and readiness for site delivery
Plan and oversee installation activities including logistics site access and sequencing with other trades
Conduct site visits to ensure quality safety and schedule adherence
Financial & Contract Management
Develop and manage project budgets including materials labour subcontractors and freight
Track costs approve invoices and manage billing milestones and cash flow
Prepare and negotiate change orders and manage scope adjustments
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company standards
Quality Safety & Risk Management
Ensure all work complies with drawings specifications and industry standards
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
Promote and enforce workplace health and safety policies in both plant and site environments
Support deficiency resolution and final inspections
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate project documentation schedules meeting minutes and correspondence
Provide regular progress reports to internal teams and clients
Support project closeout including O&M manuals warranties and final documentation
Working Conditions
Combination of office work manufacturing facility interaction and active construction sites
Regular site visits and occasional travel may be required
Ability to work extended hours when necessary to meet project deadlines

Qualifications & Skills
Strong experience managing commercial millwork or construction projects
Understanding of architectural millwork manufacturing and installation processes
Experience coordinating with clients architects consultants and contractors
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Strong budgeting scheduling and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with LEED or sustainable building practices is considered an asset
PMP Gold Seal or equivalent certification is considered an asset
Required Skills:
Technical Skills Strong understanding of architectural drawings millwork shop drawings and specifications Working knowledge of millwork materials finishes fabrication methods and installation practices Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (e.g. MS Project Procore Smartsheet or similar) Strong cost control budgeting and change management skills Soft Skills & Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving abilities Client-focused mindset with a commitment to quality and service Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced construction environments Preferred Assets Experience working directly for a millwork manufacturer or specialty subcontractor Knowledge of commercial construction contracts (e.g. stipulated sum design-build CCA or similar) Familiarity with LEED or sustainable building practices PMP Gold Seal or equivalent certification (considered an asset)
