Job Summary
Youth for Christ Winnipeg is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to serve in our Drop-In programs as a Program Assistant. Located at 333 King St the Drop-In programs serve to engage and equip youth to know and follow Jesus by providing a safe space for youth
in surrounding neighborhoods to come and have fun connect with peers and mentors and to have the opportunity to learn about Jesus.
A successful candidate for this position will recognize first and foremost that they will play a significant and vital role in the success of YFC Winnipeg; what you will do here will have an important impact on the young people who engage with the ministries at YFC. If you are passionate about helping others and want to use your experience skills and knowledge to support the ministry of YFC in changing the lives of youth then this may be the position for you.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning preparing and implementing relevant Drop-In programs.
- Ensure youth are welcomed and connected with volunteers when they come to the Drop-In programs.
- Supervise participants at the Drop-In programs to ensure that rules and policies are being followed for their safety and well-being.
- Mentor and build meaningful relationships with youth through activities such as but not limited to one-on-ones or activity groups.
- Assist with ministry activities and youth engagement across The Edge (skatepark) The Rock (climbing gym) and The Rig (fitness centre).
Requirements
- Maintain a close intimate relationship with God as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
- Be an active participant in the life of a local church.
- Affirm and support our organizations Community Covenant and Statement of Faith and be committed to YFCs mission.
- Experience working with youth of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds would be an asset.
- Embrace YFCs core values with a strong heart for evangelism.
- Strong communication organizational and administrative skills.
- Take initiative pay close attention to details and be willing to adapt.
- Able to work well in a team as well as on your own.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
