Price Survey Consultant
Job Summary
On behalf of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is conducting a comprehensive price survey to determine the cost of living for United Nations common system staff in Canada specifically in Montreal Ottawa and Toronto. The survey includes collecting market price data for a basket of goods and services from selected outlets in Montreal. The Price Survey Consultant will support two pricing teams in Montreal over a period of 10 working days.
Function1 (incl. Expected results)
Under the overall guidance of the pricing team lead the consultant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assist the pricing teams in planning and collecting prices from the stores and outlets identified by the Survey Coordinator.
- Provide the pricing teams with relevant information on local market conditions.
- Help ensure that collected prices correspond to the approved outlets and meet the required item specifications.
- Review the outlets to be priced with the pricing teams to ensure accuracy.
- Advise on suitable alternative outlets when replacements are required.
- Assist the pricing teams in accessing outlets and obtaining permission from store managers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of secondary level education or equivalent.
- Additional training or certification in the field of statistics economics merchandise or inventory management is an additional asset.
Essential
- Shopping experience with knowledge of the Montreal market.
- Ability to get around the duty station to visit the outlets by either public transportation or his/her own means of transport if necessary.
- Experience in price collection or experience in a statistical agency is an asset.
- Available to complete the job within the given time frame.
- Work experience within an international organization or a government.
- Experience within the UN system.
- Fluent reading writing and speaking abilities in English and French to ensure proper interpretation of item specifications as provided on the pricing forms.
- A working knowledge of a any other language of the Organization (Arabic Chinese Russian or Spanish).

The consultant must be an independent person who has no current or recent employment contractual or consultancy relationship with any organization of the United Nations Common System in Canada. The consultant must also not be an immediate relative (e.g. spouse parent child or sibling etc.) of a UN Staff Member working in Canada.
The duration of the contract is 10 working days to be completed within one month and is expected to commence on 21 September to 02 October 2026. The fee for this consultancy service is CAD$ 3500.00 to be paid on satisfactory completion of contract in accordance with the contract to be signed by the consultant.
