We are looking for a Prepress Technician to prepare proof and deliver production-ready print files that support efficient press operations and ensure high-quality products for our customers.

This position is currently open and reflects a new position created to support organizational growth.

Responsibilities

When your actions lead to success:

  • Produce incoming page layout jobs for all customers.
  • Complete customer revisions efficiently and within established timelines.
  • Perform image editing including close cropping and colour correction of customer-supplied images.
  • Download manage and archive customer-supplied images and files.
  • Flow images and copy into production templates and prepare customer products for press production including zoning for provincial markets.
  • Produce and distribute print-ready PDF files for internal and external customers and post files through FTP sites for web distribution.
  • Liaise with customer coordinators and other stakeholders to support information sharing and production requirements.
  • Prioritize work according to production schedules and deadlines.
  • Organize and set up production for the press including outputting and handling press plates for punching and bending.
  • Calculate plate usage based on customer requirements.
  • Proof and verify work to customer and company quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain digital printing platesetting processing and bending equipment.
  • Comply with all safety policies procedures and 5S workplace organization standards.
Qualifications

  • Ability to work shift schedules including afternoons nights and weekends.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent math skills.
  • Strong cognitive and problem-solving abilities with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent computer skills using both PC and Mac operating systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills including reading writing listening and speaking.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptable with a willingness to learn new processes and technologies.
  • Good mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a Prepress or Digital Print environment is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of offset printing presses related production processes and colour management is considered an asset.
