About Potash and the Jansen Project

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and islocatedapproximately140 kilometerseast of Saskatoon. As the largest investment in Saskatchewans history Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.

Once fully ramped up Jansen is expected to havean initialproduction capacity of approximately 8.5 milliontonnesper annum (Mtpa) with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. To find out more about Potash and the Jansen projectclick here.

About the Role

As Practice Lead Mining you will play a critical leadership role within BHPs Jansen Stage 2 (JS2) Project providing strategic and operational leadership across mining development and facilities delivery. As part of the Owners Team you will lead the integration of engineering procurement contracts mine development construction commissioning and operational readiness activities to ensure successful project execution and handover.

This role is accountable for delivering a significant mining development portfolio and requires close collaboration across project operational and contractor teams. You will influence key stakeholders across a complex matrix organization driving alignment performance and value creation throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the integration and delivery of mining development and facilities scope across engineering procurement construction commissioning and operational readiness functions.
  • Manage critical interfaces between project and operations ensuring alignment of mine planning fleet utilization infrastructure requirements ventilation systems logistics and shared resources.
  • Drive project execution to achieve agreed safety schedule cost and scope commitments.
  • Oversee commissioning turnover and handover activities to support a seamless transition into operations.
  • Monitor project performance identify emerging risks and opportunities and implement mitigation strategies to support delivery outcomes.
  • Lead contractor and commercial performance management to maximize operational and financial value.
  • Develop and drive strategic planning and scheduling processes ensuring critical path activities are effectively managed.
  • Provide leadership across a matrixed organization aligning diverse functional teams toward common objectives.

About You

You are an experienced mining and project delivery leader with a strong track record of executing large-scale complex capital projects in underground mining environments. You bring deep technical expertise combined with the ability to influence and lead across multiple stakeholder groups without direct reporting authority.

  • A degree in Mining Engineering Engineering Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience leading major mining development construction and project delivery programs.
  • Strong underground mining experience ideally including soft rock and desirable potash experience.
  • Experience integrating project delivery with operational requirements and managing complex stakeholder interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of engineering procurement construction commissioning and contractor management processes.
  • Exceptional leadership communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior leaders operational teams and external partners.
  • Proven capability in risk management project controls and governance frameworks.
  • A strong commitment to safety leadership and building a culture of care inclusion and high performance.
