We are hiring two (2) Power Lineman 3 1-full-time permanent & 1- up to 11-month temporary positions working out of Edmonton Alberta.

The Power Lineman 3 is part of the Distributions Capital Construction Aerial team within EPCORs Electricity Operations business unit. As a Power Lineman 3 you will be accountable for coaching leading and working with trades and non-trades personnel engaged in constructing maintaining and repairing Distribution & Transmission (D&T) power lines and electrical equipment up to and including 500 KV.

What Youd be Responsible For

Reporting to the Power Line Foreman you will be is accountable for but not limited:

Working on energized aerial systems (120-25000 volts) using rubber glove and other live line techniques.
Constructing repairing and maintaining new and existing transmission and distribution aerial and underground systems poles and towers up to 500KV.
Energization of both aerial and underground services from the Land Servicing and Customer Engineering Services departments.
Working at heights.
Inspecting and testing power lines and cables.
Training apprentices and supervising non-trades personnel.
Splicing and insulating conductors and wiring.
Responding to emergency conditions and environmental hazards.
Adhering to safety practices and procedures.
Partaking in rotations within EPCOR to other disciplines and parts of the Trade.

Whats Required to be Successful

Grade12 or GED or equivalent.
Journeyman Power Lineman Certificate.
3 years of experience at a Journeyman level.
Class 1 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operators License or are able to obtain it within three months and have the ability to qualify for an EPCOR drivers permit with 6 or fewer demerits. A drivers abstract will be required.
Ability to read technical prints and schematics.
Thorough working knowledge of protective grounding climbing poles with belt and spurs aerial bucket/hydraulic equipment tension stringing devices and electrical safe work practices.
Ability to meet the physical demands.
Demonstrated strong analytical thinking exceptional planning and organizational skills combined with excellent communication skills.
Experience with administrative duties such as written and basic computer skills.
Exhibits ability to develop and improve processes and procedures.
Demonstrated interest and ability to coach lead and empower others and work effectively in a team.
Proven attention to detail and a high level of technical and professional expertise.
Ensuring work is done in a safe efficient and cost effective manner and in accordance with relevant legislation corporate policies procedures and guidelines. Knowledge and experience in Underground construction and switching will be considered an asset.
Experience operating Trade related equipment will be considered an asset

Wage: Starting at $63.09 - $68.04 per hour. This rate may change subject to ratification of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Hours of work: 8 hours per day between the hours of 0700h - 1800h 5 days per week Monday through Friday. However in accordance with Article 6.02.a).ii) of the Agreement the work week may be any 5 consecutive days.
