Job Summary

In a safe and efficient manner provide maintenance services to our internal and external guests and operate the building environmental system. This candidate will be able to communicate effectively and professionally with both guests and colleagues respond to requests in a timely manner and assist in achieving the Departmental and Hotel goals.

Starting Rate: $$38.14 per hour based on experience & certifications as of September 1st 2026. 

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the Lead Hand Property Engineer responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Operate monitor inspect and maintain the hotels mechanical and environmental systems in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct routine plant rounds and record equipment operating conditions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor corrective repairs on hotel equipment and building systems.
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of boilers chillers cooling towers HVAC refrigeration heating plumbing and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor water treatment programs and perform required testing for boilers chilled water and cooling tower systems.
  • Respond promptly to guest room public area and operational maintenance requests while minimizing guest disruption.
  • Complete work orders accurately and maintain equipment records through the hotels computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report abnormal operating conditions to supervisors.
  • Maintain good working relationships with colleagues contractors and other hotel departments.
  • Assist other Engineering trades as operational requirements dictate.
  • Participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Ensure assigned work orders are completed safely efficiently and with the highest level of guest service.
  • Follow Occupational Health & Safety legislation WHMIS requirements and hotel safety procedures.
  • Safely operate hotel vehicles in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment.
  • Be available to work rotating shifts weekends holidays overtime and emergency call-outs as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Your Skills & Qualifications:

  • Alberta Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Canadian Drivers Licence with an acceptable Drivers Abstract.
  • Previous experience operating commercial boilers HVAC chillers refrigeration and mechanical building systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BMS) and Energy Management Systems is an asset.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with a strong commitment to safety and exceptional guest service.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergency situations.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg and perform physically demanding work.
