Physical Education and Upper Grades Skills Classes Teacher 2026-2027

The Nelson Waldorf School is currently seeking applications for part time Physical Education and Upper Grades Skills Classes Teacher for grades 5 to 9. The position is available for the school year with the contract beginning in August 15 2026.

The Movement teacher will encourage good sportsmanship foster inclusion and bring games and skills appropriate to the age of the students. Key qualities are strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. With the responsibility of carrying a class of up to 24 students the successful candidate will have excellent class management and organizational skills.

The Skills Class Teacher will cover specific skills classes in the upper grades with the focus on teaching and consolidating the students practical skills in the assigned area. They will also be responsible for a sports elective to teach more advanced sports skills to interested students.

This Position is Part-Time but may be scalable for more hours depending on the candidates suitability and availability as well as area of expertise.

The responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• Deliver the BC Ministry of Education Physical Education and Health as well as assigned track classes curriculum integrated with the Waldorf curriculum

• Report on students according to Faculty agreements and BC Ministry requirements

• Abide by BC Independent School teacher conduct and competence standards

Reports to: Principal of School

Terms of Employment: Permanent part-time; Base Salary plus benefits and increments for related experience.

Education and Skill Requirements:
BC Teacher Certification Required
Completed Waldorf Teacher Training with a clear understanding of Rudolf Steiners education and philosophy will be preferred or willingness to take the Waldorf training
