Reporting to Lead Patient Engagement the Patient Engagement Manager (PEM) is responsible for building strategic long-term relationships with patient associations and other stakeholders align priorities and plan activities that impact decision makers. The person in this position works in the field and will cover Canada. Location: Ontario or Quebec.Â
ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Understands patient engagement advocacy and centricity in order to provide input within the patient journey to inform corporate & brand strategies and improve the patient experienceÂ
- Build strategic long-term relationships with patient associations to understand patients needs and concerns identify stakeholders and influencers align mutual priorities and plan activities that impact decision makersÂ
- Collaborate with people living with diseases and patient associations to identify priorities unmet needs and develop solutionsÂ
- Develop and lead a strategic pro-active patient relations agenda to shape external issues and improve the environment in a positive wayÂ
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies and action plans with specific timelines budgets and stakeholders responsibilitiesÂ
- Develop coordinate and implement patient-centric initiatives that will support the commercial strategies for a defined therapeutic areaÂ
- Provide input/ insights on trends and opportunities during the preparation of patient strategy and brand plansÂ
- Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to find solutions for patients Â
- Monitor patient-related activities and report back to brand teamsÂ
- Partner with Area and Global on strategic programs that are appropriate to bring to CanadaÂ
- Represent AbbVie at relevant meetings; strategic patient association meetingsÂ
- Drive innovation at AbbVie by identifying new ways to learn from patients and communicate patient needs to the Brand teamÂ
- Serve as an expert in understanding patient associations strength challenges and needsÂ
- Challenge the organization status quo and go beyond conventional boundaries bring innovative thinkingÂ
- Build strong relationships with functional leads in Marketing Government affairs Market Access Public affairs Medical affairs and other relevant functionsÂ
- Ensure all written documentation code of Practice and ACC reporting obligations are metÂ
Qualifications :
Qualifications:Â
- Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experienceÂ
- Bachelor in Communications Nursing Public Affairs or any other relevant disciplineÂ
- Advanced proficiency in English and/or French; preference to bilingual candidatesÂ
- Experience in working with patient associationsÂ
- Experience in patientstakeholder relations market access andor marketing. Â
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and brand team environment is an assetÂ
- Intermediate computer & software skills (MS Office (Word Excel and PowerPoint) Outlook and Internet)Â

- Use interpersonal skills to build relationships with patient organizationsÂ
- Multi-task to work concurrently with numerous stakeholders and projectsÂ

- Legislation and ethics for working with patients and patient associations.Â

- Understanding of provincial & federal political environment and healthcare systemsÂ
- Ability to take key actions and demonstrate behavioral anchors that support all AbbVie leadership philosophy and attributesÂ
- Travel required about 20-25% of the timeÂ
- Valid drivers license and passportÂ
AbbVie aims to offer a French-speaking workplace in Quebec and has made efforts to limit English requirements. However advanced English skills are essential for this role because the position involves working with English-speaking employees clients and regions outside Quebec.
