The Opportunity Mosaic is seeking an Operations Accountant to work out of ourNanaimo office on Vancouver Island British Columbia.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Accounting Manager the Operations Accountant supports both operations and finance through a broad range of accounting reporting systems and analytical responsibilities. The role is responsible for supporting the accuracy integrity and effectiveness of financial records reporting contractor settlements and operational financial systems. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintaining the integrity accuracy and effectiveness of financial systems and financial records;
Developing and improving tracking reporting and data workflows to support financial reporting;
Providing financial analysis and insight to support operational and business decision-making;
Preparing and analyzing month-end transactions reconciliations and management reporting;
Supporting intercompany transactions journal entries accruals and other month-end accounting processes;
Supporting Operations Administrators with contract administration and technical systems support;
Reviewing contracts and approving contractor pay settlements through financial systems;
Supporting annual budgeting forecasting and month-end reporting activities;
Preparing and reconciling regulatory and government financial reporting requirements; and
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to data modelling reporting automation and financial systems.
What Were Seeking:
Experience working with integrated systems and financial reporting tools;
Experience with Power Query reporting automation AI tools business intelligence tools or data analytics is considered an asset;
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities;
Strong analytical problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills;
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
Experience in accounting or finance roles preferably in financial analysis cost accounting or management accounting;
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles;
Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills;
Undergraduate degree in Accounting Finance or a related field is preferred; and
CPA designation preferred;
