About Our Client

Our client is a growing Alberta-based mortgage brokerage focused on providing clients with tailored mortgage solutions and exceptional service. They are looking for an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join their team.

This is a fully remote full-time opportunity for an experienced mortgage professional who understands the Alberta mortgage market and is comfortable working independently in a brokerage environment.

The Opportunity

As a Mortgage Underwriter you will be responsible for reviewing assessing and underwriting mortgage applications from submission through approval and fulfillment. You will work closely with mortgage agents lenders and other stakeholders to ensure files are complete accurate compliant and positioned for successful funding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review mortgage applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Underwrite residential mortgage files from submission through approval and funding
  • Analyze borrower income credit employment assets liabilities and overall financial position
  • Assess lender guidelines and determine appropriate lender and mortgage product options
  • Work closely with mortgage agents to identify missing information and strengthen submissions
  • Review and validate supporting documentation
  • Prepare and submit complete lender-ready mortgage applications
  • Communicate with lenders agents lawyers and other third parties as required
  • Manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced brokerage environment
  • Ensure files meet lender brokerage and regulatory requirements
  • Track conditions and follow up through to funding
  • Maintain accurate and organized file notes and documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Valid Alberta license
  • Previous mortgage brokerage experience
  • Strong hands-on mortgage underwriting experience
  • Experience using Finmo and BluMortgage
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian mortgage industry and lender guidelines
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple files and competing priorities independently
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
