About the Role

Working within the Cougars Athletics and Recreation department the Mascot Performer has the exciting job of entertaining fans as Calvin the Cougar! Calvin give high-fives dances and takes photos with fans at Cougars games promotional events and University community events.

This is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Attending all required varsity athletics games and events as Calvin the Cougar
• Attending campus and community events as required
• Engaging fans taking photos prompting the crowd to cheer
• Giving away swag and merchandise as required
• Following all mascot protocols and codes of conduct
• Making recommendations on improvements to the program
• Taking care of the mascot suits and costumes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• In good health and able to stand/walk for extended periods of time
• Excellent communication skills and ability to judge body language
• Desire to entertain fans and cheer on our varsity athletics teams
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to follow directions and change plans on the fly
• Knowledge of mascot practices and experience in a mascot suit is considered an asset
• Knowledge of sports and U SPORTS is considered and asset
• Experience working with kids is considered an asset

Salary: $21.23 - $26.81 per hour
