The role

We are looking for a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Software Specialist to support our Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC). The MES Software Specialist would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity Excellence Respect and Creativity.

This positions main responsibility is to provide assistance in the continued implementation and support of a MES at CPFC. This software houses information needed to execute semiconductor wafer processing to meet client demands. Other system uses include the tracking of facility maintenance activities the collection of parametric data from the wafer fab and the preservation of the history of activities at the CPFC.

This position will also assist in maintenance of the data and the database on which the system relies. This includes addition and/or modification of existing data provision of datamining and administrative support and provision of updates and maintenance to the organizations internal website where required.

This MES software is critical in maintaining operational activities which are responsible for research centres revenues and client deliverables.

The incumbent of this position will report to the subject matter expert.

Screening criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Bachelor of Computer Science physical or chemical of material science engineering.

Candidates who have acquired computer skills and knowledge through academic training in another university program or at a community college along with significant relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience
  • Significant* experience using an MES system in a semiconductor environment.
  • Significant* experience configuring an MES system.
  • Significant* experience populating and querying relational databases.
  • Significant* and recent** experience in manipulating and organizing data.
  • Basic experience providing in-house client support.

*Significant experience is defined as experience acquired over a period of two (2) to six (6) years.
**Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last three (3) to five (5) years.

  • For a Reliability Status verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.
  • Irregular hours may be required.
Assessment criteria

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical competencies
  • Knowledge of MES systems and how they are used in a semiconductor wafer fabrication environment.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and the ability to query relational databases using SQL.
  • Ability to extract manipulate and organize large amounts of data efficiently and intuitively.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor wafer level manufacturing methods processes and terminology.
  • Familiarity with website programming and maintenancean asset.
