We are hiring a full-time permanent Manager Transmission Asset Management position working out of Edmonton AB.

The Manager Transmission Asset Management is accountable for the operational management and life cycle planning for all EDTI substation facilities and transmission assets. This includes overseeing long and short term planning maintenance repairs studies business processes systems analytic practices and ISO 55000 aligned asset management. The Manager Transmission Asset Management also ensures well developed business cases for all operational and capital projects included in General Tariff regulatory applications.

What youd be responsible for

  • Developing and implementing system and asset operational capacities and limits based on asset condition system configuration appropriate risk levels and coordination with other entities in Electricity.
  • Ensuring the business plans and deliverables for direct reports are aligned and integrated and include performance expectations and deliverable metrics.
  • Planning and identifying the operational budget requirements and the provision of projects and work management processes.
  • Coordinating and communicating impacts restrictions and opportunities with other business units and customers with regards to asset condition and life cycle planning.
  • Developing and writing business cases for all General Tariff Applications leading the responses to all Information Requests and acting as subject matter expert for regulatory proceedings.
  • Supporting EPCORs Environmental Social and Governance metrics and targets. Implementing and maintaining actions from the Transmission Climate Change Adaptation Management Plan.
  • Analyzing and identifying issues affecting operational performance and establishing initiatives for continuous improvement on work processes.
  • Ensuring the Alberta Reliability Standards and Critical Infrastructure Protection requirements are adhered to for the Transmission business area.
  • Managing internal and external resources (i.e. consultants & contractors).
  • Accountable for daily operational decisions regarding asset usage capacity and limitations with respect to asset health and appropriate risk levels.

Whats required to be successful

  • Professional Engineer with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 10 years of experience in Transmission & Substation Engineering is required.
  • Experience with capital projects and transmission system asset management; including repairs and maintenance and capital planning and project/program execution.
  • Extensive knowledge on all associated utility operations spanning multiple business units.
  • Knowledge of Transmission and substation systems and components; P&C relaying SCADA Communications Substation automation Aerial and Underground facilities and vegetation management and Substation Apparatus applications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical utility systems.
  • Strong understanding of CIP and non-CIP NERC or Alberta Reliability Standards
  • Understanding of financial and regulatory processes.
  • Understanding of IEEE & Electrical Utility standards.
  • Understanding of ISO 55000 aligned Asset Management practices principles and terminology.
  • Strong capability to analyze issues solve problems and make effective decisions.
