What youll do:
As a scientist understand the needs of the project and possible issues and the vision of the deliverable (report regulatory dossier research risk assessments nonclinical program design or analysisetc.) and how best to conduct the project efficiently with respect to scientific and writing activities and the project scope. Exercise judgment and be principally involved in deciding the approach needed to resolve the problem. Review and interpret published/unpublished scientific materials and synthesize findings into reports and address the implications of the findings given the regulatory and toxicology questions at issue. Prepare toxicology/safety risk assessments for active substances excipients impurities and other compounds and advise on guide and monitor toxicology studies and whole programs including data review and issue resolution. Know and apply regulatory agency guidelines and expectations for pharmaceuticals and healthcare products of various types to client product development programs and be aware of industry standards. Review internal reports and be responsible for the quality and scientific accuracy of the final deliverable to internal reviewers and depending on the complexity of the project to the client.
Where required (e.g. in complex projects) use powers of analysis and lateral thinking skills to identify out of the box solutions in/across the different dimensions of the problem.
As a project manager provide leadership to project teams oversee the work of assigned team. Depending on the size and complexity of the project lead or support all project phases from set-up (scope budget and proposal preparation administrative elements) to initiation (address project requirements depending on size and complexity; design tasks and envision deliverables) through project maintenance to manage progress and client relationships and project deliverables focused on the clients needs (supported by senior staff).
Be a consultant both in-house and to outside clients. Interact and develop relationships with clients on most projects to ensure smooth communication regarding project scope timing and other parameters. Identify new project opportunities with existing clients participate in marketing initiatives and sales discussions. Work typically involves balancing needs of and resolving potential conflicts among several projects or programs typically of major complexity.
Support leadership in meeting goals and objectives and contribute to the development of junior staff.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
Desired Qualifications:
. . or Ph.D. with experience in the pharmaceutical or relevant industry/sector. Education degree should be in Toxicology or a relevant field.
Additional specialization in an area of toxicology e.g. molecular toxicology physiology metabolism pharmacology anatomy chemistry regulatory knowledge etc.
Subject matter expertise: scientific acumen and expertise to a level that can be expected to undertake and understand most standard studies within the overall field of toxicology. Able to critically review information and present a mature scientific argument. Additionally an understanding of the role of regulatory toxicology in drug development and ability to solve increasingly complex scientific problems.
Excellent communicator and manager able to practice effective time management and able to manage complex projects in order to meet client expectations related to project deadlines and deliverables. Enjoys working within a team including more senior and more junior team members.
Clear and skillful writer able to draw together key points identify and include relevant details and prepare a clean and persuasive document.

Able to work in an office in Mississauga Ontario Canada (remote/home-based work could be discussed in due course).
Salary & Benefits Information
Salary will be up to $95K.
