Why Your Role Matters

The Manager Library Quality and Planning plays a vital role within the University Library by supporting library leaders to achieve the Librarys goals in operational planning service management and professional development. Working closely with these leaders you will help shape the future direction of the Library by leading planning quality improvement governance and organisational development initiatives. You will use data insights and stakeholder engagement to drive continuous improvement support strategic decision-making lead key projects and capability programs and contribute to a high-performing and effective Library service.


This position contributes significantly to both strategic and operational initiatives across the Library helping to foster an engaged positive and forward-looking environment that supports the full range of the Librarys services and can access the full responsibilities in the job description.

The role reports to the Associate Director Spaces & Corporate and has one direct report at this stage.

Who You Are

You are an experienced professional with a strong track record in quality management planning organisational development and service improvement. You use data feedback and evidence-based insights to inform decision-making and contribute to business planning aligned with organisational goals.

You have experience identifying capability needs and delivering professional development initiatives within a complex organisation. You are confident working with staff at all levels and using a range of approaches to support organisational team and individual learning and engagement.

You develop a strong understanding of organisational priorities and capability needs and work effectively with senior leaders to identify opportunities for growth and support positive organisational outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Proven ability to work with leaders across an organisation to deliver staff development quality management planning or organisational improvement initiatives

  • Experience developing and using service management and performance metrics to support decision-making

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills including experience using visualisation and dashboard tools such as Power BI

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence advise and collaborate effectively with staff at all levels

  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities solving problems and driving positive organisational outcomes

Experience working within a university library cultural institution or similarly complex environment would be highly regarded. An understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing academic libraries in 2026 and beyond and how quality and planning processes contribute to achieving the University Librarys goals would also be advantageous.
