Position Summary:

Reporting to the Administrator this position is responsible for the development and management of quality leisure and recreational programs student placements and volunteer services at St. Peters Residence at Chedoke. This position designs evaluates and manages recreation programs that improve and maintain the physical mental and emotional well-being of residents. The position is also responsible for ensuring that all required screening and documentation is required for volunteer and student placements. The position is responsible for matching volunteers and students with the appropriate service or program within the home. The position maintains strong school and community relationships to attract and recruit students and volunteers and ensures that the recreation student and volunteer programs meet the needs of the residents and enhances the quality of services within the home.

Employment Guide:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies Therapeutic Recreation Kinesiology Volunteer Management or other related field from a community college or university.
  • Has at minimum three to five years supervisory experience in a LTC or community health care setting.
  • Current knowledge of Gerontology and Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations 2007 an advantage.
  • Must possess excellent relation-based leadership communication and public relations skills.
  • Possesses in depth knowledge of Microsoft office medical documentation volunteer management data bases and time and attendance systems.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to design and tailor recreation and volunteer programs to meet the individual needs of the residents and care plan goals.
  • Strong communication skills are essential in this position.
  • Ability to maintain relationships and build positive community networks essential.
  • Must possess a valid driving licence.

Job Type: Full-time Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Compensation/Salary Range: $58682.58 - $69755.15per year

*compensation set in accordance with experience and qualifications
