Position Summary

Reporting to the Dean School of Health and Wellness the Manager Healthcare Simulation and Technology provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Colleges healthcare simulation and experiential learning environments as well as health and wellness lab spaces. This position is responsible for planning developing implementing and evaluating simulation-based education programs while ensuring the effective management of simulation and lab facilities technologies equipment staff budgets and external partnerships.

As a key member of the Schools leadership team the Manager leads the advancement of innovative simulation and experiential learning initiatives that support student success accreditation requirements industry partnerships applied research and business development opportunities. The Manager works in close collaboration with the Associate Dean Simulation and Health Care Centre of Excellence (HCCE) who provides academic and pedagogical direction for simulation-based learning. The Manager contributes to the Schools operational and strategic planning.



Key Responsibilities



Strategic Leadership and Program Development

  • Lead the planning implementation and continuous improvement of simulation and experiential learning programs across the School of Health and Wellness.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align simulation-based education activities with institutional priorities and industry needs in coordination with the Associate Dean Simulation and HCCE.
  • Collaborate with faculty leadership and external partners to ensure simulation experiences reflect current best practices and accreditation standards.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation growth and enhancement of simulation programs facilities and technologies.
  • Represent the College in provincial national and professional simulation organizations and collaborative initiatives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations regarding simulation technologies learning spaces and future program development working jointly with the Associate Dean to ensure operational and academic strategies are aligned.



Operations and Resource Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of simulation experiential learning and lab facilities ensuring efficient scheduling utilization and delivery of activities.
  • Manage operational and capital budgets including forecasting monitoring expenditures and ensuring fiscal accountability.
  • Lead procurement activities for simulation equipment and technology including vendor selection RFP development sole-source procurement and contract management.
  • Develop and maintain lifecycle plans for simulation equipment and technology infrastructure.
  • Ensure all equipment software and hardware assets are maintained functional and supported through service agreements and warranties.
  • Oversee lab supply management including inventory tracking ordering and forecasting of supply needs across both simulation and lab spaces in coordination with lab assistant staff.
  • Establish and maintain policies procedures and best practices for simulation and lab operations and space utilization.
  • Coordinate simulation accreditation activities and ensure compliance with accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Develop and implement annual operational plans and performance measures.



Business Development and External Partnerships

  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize utilization of simulation and experiential learning spaces in alignment with academic priorities established with the Associate Dean.
  • Identify pursue and manage revenue-generating opportunities partnerships contracts and projects with healthcare organizations industry partners government agencies and educational institutions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to promote simulation services and learning opportunities internally and externally.
  • Research develop and submit proposals business cases contracts and funding applications.
  • Maintain strong relationships with health authorities professional associations post-secondary institutions and community partners.
  • Support applied research initiatives and collaborative projects involving simulation technologies and education.



Team Leadership and Staff Development

  • Provide leadership supervision coaching and performance management for simulation technical and support staff (non-academic roles) including lab assistant staff.
  • Recruit hire onboard and develop a high-performing team to support current operations and future growth.
  • Establish annual goals priorities and performance expectations for staff and monitor progress toward achievement.
  • Foster a collaborative inclusive and service-oriented work environment.
  • Support employee professional development and ensure staff maintain current knowledge of simulation technologies educational practices and industry trends.
  • Interpret and apply collective agreements College policies and employment legislation as required.
  • Partner with the Associate Dean to support a cohesive simulation team environment including clear role delineation and shared priorities between operational and academic staff.



Governance Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with College policies procedures applicable legislation accreditation requirements and funding agency guidelines.
  • Manage privacy safety quality assurance and risk management processes related to simulation operations.
  • Develop and monitor procedures that promote safe effective and high-quality learning environments.
  • Participate on College and external committees and contribute to institutional initiatives and decision-making processes.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma in management or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience in simulation-based education.
  • High level of understanding of simulation processes and best practices.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.



Preferred Qualifications

  • High level understanding of technology as it applies to simulation-based education and teaching in simulation environments.
  • Degree in Management.
  • Formal training/certification in project management.
  • Formal training in leading teams.
  • Formal training in leading meetings.
  • Formal training in strategy development.
