WHAT YOULL BE DOING
- Participates in Branch planning and formulates strategic initiatives for service improvements.
- Assists in the overall direction of setting goals objectives developing policies and procedures for the Branch.
- Assists the Director in preparing recommending monitoring and controlling the Branch budget; prepares the business unit annual budget special project budgets and work plans.
- Prepares 10-year capital plan project estimates for inclusion in Regions budget and manages the implementation of the 10-year Transportation Capital Program.
- Administers budget for the Roads Engineering group and for construction of capital projects.
- Coordinates expenditure requirements in consultation with the Finance department.
- Prepares capital forecasts and reports.
- Manages and coordinates engineering services required to deliver the 10-year Transportation Capital Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet Departmental goals and program/service objectives.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Minimum seven (7) years demonstrated experience (inclusive of E.I.T experience) in all aspects of transportation systems design and construction (roads bridges transit facilities) capital financing experience as well as progressive managerial experience in a unionized environment including a minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Legislation Standards Acts and Regulations.
- Ability to demonstrate the Regions leadership and corporate core competencies.
- Supervisory and human resource management skills knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation labour relations principles and practices and relevant employment legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a range of internal and external partners while focusing on fostering collaborative work relationships.
- Ability to negotiate/facilitate and present information to varied audiences in contentious situations.
- Strong report writing research analytical and project management skills to meet program objectives and work to tight deadlines.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and use of virtual platforms.
- Strong leadership to proactively engage in accessibility diversity equity and inclusion initiatives committing to and taking action to contribute to a more accessible diverse equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Ability to work independently and with teams and with ability to manage competing priorities.
- Valid Ontario Class G drivers license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
- Ability to work outside regular hours as required.
