Maintenance Technician

WHATS THE JOB

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Site Manager the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep repair and troubleshooting of kitchen appliances plumbing electrical systems and infrastructure within a remote camp facility. This role requires electrical carpentry and plumbing knowledge practical experience in appliance maintenance and the ability to work independently in a remote fast-paced environment. The Maintenance Technician ensures minimal downtime and uninterrupted camp operations through proactive maintenance timely repairs and emergency response. 

Your work will include:

• Perform preventive maintenance troubleshooting and repairs on kitchen appliances (ovens fridges dishwashers deep fryers etc.) and electrical systems across camp facilities. 

• Perform preventive maintenance troubleshooting and repairs on the camps plumbing and lift station systems. 

• Conduct regular inspections of all electrical appliances and systems ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. 

• Work independently with limited supervision managing time and priorities efficiently. 

• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and camp management to address equipment and infrastructure concerns promptly. 

• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on minimizing operational downtime. 

• Support uninterrupted camp operations by ensuring all equipment appliances and systems are functional and reliable. 

• Contribute to a safe comfortable and well-maintained camp environment for all personnel. 

• Maintain professionalism and clear communication when reporting issues and working with the camp team. 

• Manage inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for repairs ordering supplies as required to maintain adequate stock levels. 

• Support cost-effective operations through proactive preventive maintenance that extends equipment life and reduces emergency repairs. 

• Use materials and resources efficiently to minimize waste and unnecessary costs. 

• Quickly diagnose and repair electrical plumbing and mechanical issues in appliances and kitchen equipment. 

• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new kitchen appliances plumbing and electrical systems as needed. 

• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities repairs and inspections in compliance with company policies and safety regulations. 

• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls related to electrical failures or appliance breakdowns. 

• Follow all health and safety standards including procedures specific to remote work environments.

Qualifications :

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

• High school diploma or equivalent. Journeyman Plumber or Electrician certification is an asset. First Aid with CPR certification is an asset.  

• Experience working in remote or fly-in/fly-out camps in Canada particularly in industrial or commercial settings.  

• Hands-on experience with kitchen appliances including refrigeration units ovens fryers dishwashers and other commercial kitchen equipment.  

• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and record-keeping systems.  

• Strong knowledge of electrical circuits and troubleshooting techniques.  

• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems and camp lift stations.  

• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults in appliances and electrical systems.  

• Valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.  

• Safety-conscious and familiar with health and safety standards in remote environment.  

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.  

• Flexibility and adaptability to work in challenging environments with varying weather and remote conditions.  

• Excellent communication skills.  

• Must pass drug alcohol and fitness testing.  

• Physically capable of: 

• Lifting up to 50 lbs.  

• Working in confined spaces.  

• Working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.  

• Performing manual repair and maintenance tasks.
