About the Opportunity
Performs general maintenance duties and scheduled preventive maintenance work on physical facilitiesequipmentand grounds
Performs general repair work on structures and equipment (responds to maintenance requests)
Assembles moves delivers setsupand picks up furniture and equipment
Performs general repair work on structures patches & paints any damaged walls
Assists the Plant Building & Safety Manager in the inspection of buildingsgroundsand equipment; carries out preventive maintenance program actions
Accesses PM Worx program for Preventive Maintenance schedules and to process work orders
Requests necessary materials suppliespartsand toolsrequiredandmaintainscontrol of storage and use
Performs and documents internal and external inspections and audits
Accesses PM Worx program for Preventive Maintenance schedules and processes work orders through the same program
Participates in emergency (disaster) plan and mock disaster exercises
Works in conjunction withShannexfire and safety policies to help train staff in fire safety techniques; schedules fire drills and evaluates performance effectiveness
Takes every precaution that is reasonable in the circumstances to ensure the health and safety of employeesresidentsand all others in the workplace
Additionalduties as assigned/required
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvementcollaborationand accountability you bring:
A High School Diploma or completion of equivalent education
1-2 years experience in construction or building maintenance
Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation
Advanced Proficiency in Englishrequired other languages considered an asset
Certification in Carpentry Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Plumbing or Electrical trades considered an asset.
Knowledge of blueprint reading considered an asset
Successful candidates willbe requiredto obtain a clear Criminal Record Check and where applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to appointment
A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodationsservice
