Job Summary

POSITION TITLE: Library Assistant

CLOSING DATE: July 16 2026

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Library Manager and under direct supervision of the Public Services Librarian the incumbent provides front-line library services supports day-to-day operations and assists with interlibrary loan services.

The incumbent responds to telephone walk-in and written enquiries; registers new patrons; processes materials being taken out and returned; assists with computer use and basic reference services; and ensures patrons follow library policies. Duties also include maintaining library materials assisting with programs and displays processing interlibrary loan requests verifying shipments and supporting general library operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a library or administrative setting. Basic computer skills including an understanding of how to use MS Office suite including Excel Word Outlook and perform data entry are required. The position requires the individual to demonstrate the ability to collaborate and work effectively within a team environment. The incumbent will possess the ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy.

SALARY:

$77390.71 per annum plus benefits as outlined in the Public Service Alliance of Canada Collective Agreement.
