Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Legal Summer Student who will work with Geotabs legal team in commercial and corporate legal matters legal drafting and research contract management and file administration. What youll do:

As a Legal Summer Student your key area of responsibility will be to support the legal team and other subject matter experts (SMEs) at Geotab with legal advice research and drafting. You will also provide administrative support using the legal departments software tools for contract management research and addition you will also need to provide regular status reports to key partners to ensure that special projects if provided are delivered on time and meet expectations. As a part of your role you will need to work closely with various Geotab departments including Legal Compliance Operations Business Development HR and other departments.

To be successful in this role you should be a team player with the ability to work independently. Other skills that will benefit you within this role are adaptability problem solving time management collaboration and addition the successful candidate will have strong analytical research organization and communication skills with an ability to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.

The opportunity:

4-month work-term beginning May 2027.
Full-time paid internship: Monday - Friday37.5hrs/week.

How youll make an impact:

Become familiar with Geotab its products process and standard procedures with a special emphasis on those related to the legal department.
Observe and support negotiations phone calls meetings and other interactions between Geotab legal team members and their internal customers and other organizations.
Assist with drafting review and execution of legal agreements with a major focus on software data privacy and intellectual property.
Includes among others end user agreements distribution agreements non-disclosure agreements and minor vendor contracts.
Assist legal counsel to deal with litigation matters subpoenas and requests for information relating to litigation matters.
Review organize and classify the legal teams contract database identifying non-standard terms and conditions.

What youll bring to the role:

Currently enrolled in a Canadian or US accredited law school
Ability to conduct legal research using Westlaw and other legal research tools
Familiar with Microsoft Google and data processing software tools (MS Word Google Docs PowerPoint etc)
Providing input and advice into legal meetings negotiations and projects with other Geotab SMEs
Using the legal teams software tools to enhance our contract management processes file administration and overall organization of legal documents

The annual base salary for this position is the expected annual salary for this role and may be subject to change. Geotab offers various perks and benefits and other compensation components that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to skills qualifications education and overall experience including the location the applicant lives while performing the job. This also includes equity with other team members and alignment with local market data. All offers of employment are contingent upon proof of eligibility to work and the individuals ability to pass a background check.

Hiring Range

$21 - $27 CAD

This role offers an hourly pay range which is anticipated to be the range listed below. The actual pay for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to students academic program relevant experience and location. Geotab is committed to fair and equitable compensation and will share final details as part of the offer process. All offers of employment are contingent upon proof of eligibility to work for the duration of the internship and the individuals ability to pass a background check.
