Recreation Services Brandons Community SportsplexMore than one position may be filledPlease apply with a cover letter and resume Conditions: This program consists of 5-8 lesson sessions year-round. Lessons typically take place on Saturday mornings. Training will take place on a flexible/casual basis in advance of commencing employment. This is a temporary position and will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. This opportunity is open to all applicants; however first consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this positionRate of Pay: $17.37- $23.26 per hour (2026 Rates)The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains : The City of Brandon requires proof of mandatory qualifications. PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe Learn to Skate Instructor is focused on helping individuals develop fundamental skating skills in a fun and safe environment at Brandons Community Sportsplex. This position involves preparing individual program plans instructing skating programs and evaluating the progress of program participants while promoting interest and encouraging participation in program activity. Instructors work to ensure that participants have a positive experience and are performing the skills in a safe manner as set out in the established DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare lesson plans;Gather required equipment in advance of lessonsGreet program participants and assist them in putting on their equipment when required; Provide instruction to program participants on the prepared lesson plans;Track attendance;Complete evaluations and reports; Keep the skate lock-up tidy;Correspond with parents after class when required;Respond to questions from participants and parents related to the program; Provide a safe cooperative and enjoyable environment for program participants;Other duties related to the program as may be required.
