What is the role

As a Land Development Engineer at LEA you will play a key role in the planning design and delivery of land development and municipal infrastructure projects across Ontario.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (.) with land development consulting experience strong project management capabilities and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions while building lasting client relationships. In this role your duties and responsibilities will include:

Project Management

  • Oversee the delivery of Land Development from design to construction as a Project Engineer/Project Manager.
  • Develop project plans by defining project timelines creating schedules and cost estimates and overseeing project progress to make sure deliverables are met on time within the scope and budget for both internal multi-disciplinary teams and sub-consultants.
  • Coordinate with the design team and sector leads Project Managers with schedules and day-to-day project management tasks.
  • Liaise with other departments and sub-consultants in coordinating technical aspects of the work under the direction of a Senior Engineer/Senior Project Manager.
  • Manage project teams of designers and technicians.
  • Assist in developing project specifications and cost estimates.

Engineering & Technical Design

  • Prepare technical drawings and reports for various projects including Stormwater Management Functional Servicing Municipal Watermain and Sewers (Storm and Sanitary) Site Grading/Servicing Drainage plans Roads Utilities and Transit projects.
  • Conducting servicing Studies and Environmental Assessments including hydraulic modelling Condition Assessments Sewer Capacity Analysis Construction and Life Cycle Project Costing.
  • Review approve and seal engineering drawings and technical reports.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent LEA as a consulting Engineer in meetings with different clients and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Land Development as well as Municipal and Transit proposals.

Training & Professional Development

  • Participate in the training activities and provide technical training for other members of the team.
  • Continuously grow professional skills and knowledge through training sessions seminars workshops and involvement in professional associations to stay updated on the latest trends software and technology.
  • Participate in other Civil projects in support of Municipal Transit and MTO projects.

The qualifications you need:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with 10 years of relevant consulting experience in Land Development.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer () with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with the ability to complete multiple project tasks and meet tight project deadlines when required.
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment working towards common goals and objectives.
  • Self-motivation to continuously learn while completing assigned work tasks.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively liaise with clients sub-consultants and other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on industry trends.
