Junior Project Controls Technician

We are currently seeking a qualified Project Control Technician to join our Energy team based out of Calgary. The Project Controls Technician supports project teams by providing project data reports and analysis. The role assists with planning estimating scheduling cost tracking and project monitoring to help ensure projects are completed safely efficiently and successfully.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support project cost control activities by collecting tracking analyzing and maintaining project cost labour hour staffing and performance data.
• Assist with budget tracking forecasting variance analysis progress measurement and earned value reporting to help monitor project performance and financial outcomes.
• Prepare maintain and distribute project controls reports dashboards key performance indicators and project status updates.
• Analyze project data to identify trends risks issues and opportunities providing accurate information to support project decision-making.
• Maintain project controls systems databases reporting tools and project coding structures ensuring accuracy and consistency of information.
• Collaborate with project managers engineers construction personnel and other stakeholders to gather validate and communicate project information.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls processes reporting practices tools and databases.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail accountability and a commitment to producing accurate reliable and timely work.

Qualifications :

• Degree diploma or certificate in Engineering Construction Management Business Finance Project Management or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
• 1-3 years of experience in project controls cost control estimating project coordination finance engineering construction or a related field or an equivalent combination of internship co-op and project-based experience.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel including formulas pivot tables data analysis reporting and spreadsheet management.
• Experience with Power BI project controls software and other reporting analytics or data visualization tools is considered an asset; the willingness and aptitude to learn new systems is essential.
• Strong interest in working with spreadsheets formulas reporting and data-driven decision-making.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data identify trends and support practical solutions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated curiosity initiative and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
