As a junior Protection and Control (P&C)/SCADA Engineer you will be working with a team of P&C detailed designers and SCADA designers and contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals particularly on substation hydroelectric power station and renewable energy projects with numerous clients across Canada.

Primary Responsibilities

• Detailed Engineering Deliverables: Prepare and update secondary design packages for substations and utility power systems including single-line diagrams (SLDs) three-line AC diagrams protection schematics logic/interlock diagrams wiring schedules panel layouts and bills of materials (BOMs).
• SCADA & Automation Design: Assist in developing SCADA network architecture topologies I/O point mapping lists DNP3/Modbus memory maps and RTU/gateway configurations utilizing industry protocols (DNP3 IEC 61850 Modbus).
• Station Service Systems: Perform basic load calculations and assist in designing AC/DC station service systems including station battery charger inverter and distribution board schematics.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with civil structural physical layout and project management teams to deliver integrated compliant substation engineering design packages.
• QA/QC & Work Package Updates: Participate in internal QA/QC reviews attend client comment resolution meetings and incorporate review markup updates to prepare packages for IFC (Issued for Construction).
• Field Engineering & Site Support: Conduct site surveys support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and site commissioning and participate in sporadic field visits for system startup inspection and monitoring under the guidance of senior engineers.

Qualifications :

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Registration: Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration (. track) with EGBC or another Canadian provincial engineering association (e.g. APEGA PEO).
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in detailed P&C and SCADA design within the Canadian electric utility industrial power or engineering consulting sectors.
• Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of utility protection philosophies secondary control wiring SCADA architecture and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs/relays).
• Software Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook) and CAD software or PDF markup tools (e.g. AutoCAD Bluebeam Revu).
• Personal & Professional Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills willingness to learn under technical mentorship clear written and verbal English communication skills and high integrity and commitment to safety and engineering excellence.
