Overview
The Civil Engineering Departments within the Candu Energy is engaged in nuclear civil engineering work involving structural analysis civil design ageing management to support the life extension plant modification and service work of existing Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) and New engineers are required to perform structural and seismic analysis seismic margin assessment and structural design as well as prepare and issue analysis design and assessment documents.
Candu Energy looking to hire multiple Civil/Structural engineers for full time term/permanent positions. The types of engineering work include structural and seismic analysis structural design check and assessment of structures systems and to be produced include analysis reports design calculations design Reports technical specifications and design requirements. The candidate should be familiar with the use of one analysis program such as ANSYS SAP2000 STAAD Pro SSASI ETABS SAFE etc..
This is an opportunity for those wishing to participate in the Candu Energy nuclear services business and will provide valuable career development opportunities in support of operating NPPs and New Build Civil/Structural analysis and design.
Your role
- Perform structural analysis seismic qualification structural design and ageing management for various systems.
- Prepare design calculations for steel reinforced concrete and masonry structures in compliance with CSA standards and relevant codes.
- Use structural analysis software (e.g. FEA tools) to evaluate systems and components.
- Develop conceptual preliminary and detailed designs along with technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Support engineering teams by contributing to design packages ensuring quality and meeting project timelines and budgets.
- Apply nuclear industry knowledge and standards (e.g. ASME Section III TSSA N285.0) with experience in tools like MathCAD ANSYS or GTSTRUDL considered an asset.
About you
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (Masters preferred) with 35 years of structural design experience.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian codes and standards (NBCC CSA) and core civil/structural engineering principles.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ANSYS SAP2000 STAAD Pro ETABS SAFE or similar tools.
- Licensed or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer () in Canada; eligible for PWGSC security clearance.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable of delivering high-quality work under tight schedules and budget constraints.
