Job Summary

Are you a strategic leader who thrives on building strong relationships and navigating complex multi-organization partnerships The Sport and Recreation Branch is seeking a dedicated Joint Use Coordinator (Recreation Officer III) to manage Edmontons vital Joint Use Agreements between the City of Edmonton and three local school boards.

In this independent and high-impact role you will act as a neutral guide for the Joint Use Steering Committee and its subcommittees ensuring access to sport and recreation spaces across our community. You will lead strategic planning business process improvements and project implementations that align with shared long-term vision and goals. Working with various levels of leadership you will tackle politically sensitive assignments and navigate diverse organizational mandates while maintaining trust and confidentiality. What will you do

  • Provide leadership direction and coordination for strategic planning functions including Steering Committee and subcommittee business plans budget forecasts and briefings
  • Serve as the principal advisor for problem formulation strategic solution strategies and evaluation of outcomes across multi-partner initiatives
  • Manage strategic issues by conducting thorough research analysis and risk mitigation while respecting partner sensitivities and political dynamics
  • Build nurture and maintain collaborative working relationships across all partner groups engagement participants and internal municipal teams
  • Lead the review and administration of Joint Use Agreements ensuring equal access shared financial accountability and alignment with corporate goals
  • Investigate inquiries and concerns from engagement participants or collaborators delivering impartial and comprehensive reports to the Steering Committee
  • Other related duties as required.

  • Completed University degree in Public Administration Political Science Recreation Business Administration Arts or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible strategic and management experience

Assets:

  • Demonstrated experience in board/committee leadership development and strategic management
  • Extensive experience in business process improvement mapping and management
  • Proven track record in project management processes and administration across multiple concurrent projects
  • Prior experience managing multi-jurisdictional or multi-board intergovernmental agreements
  • Experience in municipal operations particularly within sports recreation or facility allocation models

Skills required for success:

  • Exceptional political acumen system thinking and the ability to maintain impartiality in complex multi-partner environments
  • Advanced communication negotiation and presentation skills to influence key decision-makers effectively
  • Strong conflict mitigation relationship-building and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in digital productivity tools including Google Workspace (Docs Sheets Slides)

Work Environment:

  • Note: Due to the nature of this work this position is not eligible for a hybrid work arrangement
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
  • Standard office/indoor environment with frequent sitting visual focus and active listening requirements
  • Occasional local travel to various partner and facility locations across Edmonton

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week

Salary Range: $49.916 - $62.735 (Hourly)
