Janitorial Worker

Employment Status: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Schedule: Thursday or occasionally Fridays. 6 hours per week

Summary:

The Janitor will clean sanitize and maintain areas by providing cleaning services for the parish church.

Position Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize rooms bathrooms and common areas.
• Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows mirrors and other glass surfaces.
• As requested organize items and tidy up spaces.
• Vacuum sweep and mop floors.
• Removes trash.
• Replenish restroom supplies.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Maintain the security of issued keys secure buildings turn off lights and set thermostats.
• Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
• Any other duties assigned by priest or parochial vicar.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in cleaning including dusting mopping sweeping and vacuuming.

Minimum Knowledge Abilities and Skills:

• Ability to communicate with various levels of staff
• Complete a safe environment course and pass criminal background check
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Ability to resolve and reduce conflict.

Qualifications:

1. Should possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
2. Prior custodian / janitorial experience preferred.
3. Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision.
4. Knowledge and/ or experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals

Physical Demands:

1. Spend 80-90% of work time standing/ squatting/ lifting/ kneeling doing a wide variety of moderate physical activity.

Work Environment:

1. Relate well communicate professionally and courteously with staff volunteers parishioners children.
2. Maintain a neat appearance.
