Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSSrelated work Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada by Canadians.

The Intern Supply Chain (New Construction) is responsible for supporting Supply Chain for new vessels constructed by Seaspan Shipyards under the Federal Fleet Renewal (FFR) supporting Supply Chain they will monitor and improve financial reporting track expenditure and budgets and help develop reports. This position will work closely with members of Supply Chain Controls Procurement and Subcontracts in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team as well as multiple organizational stakeholders.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.

What youll do

  • Provide bi-weekly reports for subcontract expenditure and follow up on invoice movement on multiple dimensions.
  • Compile information and prepare reports for project commitments.
  • Track forecasted late spend and expedite purchase order promise delivery date updates.
  • Follow project lifecycle categories with major spend for validation of project costing.
  • Reconcile financial data sources for warehouse receipts and invoice payments.
  • Expedite missing invoices and work achievement documents in systems.
  • Review consolidate and report on data sources for financial reporting.
  • Update databases and generate reports in Excel and Power BI in support of project financial controls.

What youll bring

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program within Business
  • Knowledge of finance supply chain and business analytics is desirable.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good with MS-Office (Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook/Word) as well as SharePoint.
  • Experience with Power BI is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and quantitative analysis is valuable.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $28.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Tuesday September 8th 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday April 30th 2027 (8 Months).
