Description:
SickKids Foundation is hiring for a paid 12-month Development Internship Program beginning in September 2026 designed to create meaningful career pathways in fundraising and philanthropy while helping build a more inclusive nonprofit sector. This rotational opportunity offers hands-on experience across Campaign & Transformational Giving Major Gifts and Leadership Giving with exposure to donor engagement stewardship campaign operations and relationship management. The program is designed to help interns build skills experience and professional networks that support long-term careers in Development. This years recruitment includes intentional outreach to people with disabilities as part of the Foundations commitment to expanding access and opportunity in the nonprofit sector.
Campaign & Transformational Giving Major Gifts Leadership Giving
The SickKids Foundation Development team is committed to building exceptional donor relationships that advance the Foundations ambitious fundraising goals and help transform child health. As the Foundation works toward its historic $2.5B campaign goal the Development team plays a critical role inidentifying cultivatingsoliciting and stewarding donors through meaningful strategic engagement.
This unique 12-month rotational internship offers hands-on experience across three high-impact fundraising teams through three consecutive four-month rotations:
Campaign & Transformational Giving Philanthropy andLeadership Giving
Through these rotations interns will gain exposure to the full donor engagement lifecycle including:
- Major Gifts ($100K)
- Leadership Giving ($10K$99.9K)
- Campaign and transformational fundraising initiatives
Interns will contribute to a variety of strategic and donor-focused projects while developinga strong foundationin fundraising relationship management donor stewardship and campaign operations within one of Canadas leading healthcare charities.
Key Responsibilities
Throughout the program interns will have the opportunity to:
- Support the development and execution of fundraising strategies and donor engagement initiatives across multiple giving programs and campaigns (e.g. Breakthrough Fund Innovators Women Powered)
- Conduct donor and prospect research including prospect identification pipeline development and preparation of donor briefing materials
- Maintain and update donor records and engagement activity within the Foundations CRM database
- Assistwith donor meeting coordination impact reporting hospital tours and stewardship activities
- Provide project management and administrative support to the Campaign & Transformational Giving team on high-priority initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Corporate & Community Partnerships Stewardship & Donor Relations Research & Analytics and Gift Administration
- Partner with hospital stakeholders to better understand funding priorities and communicate donor impact
- Participate in regular mentorship and coaching opportunities with leaders across the Development department
- Contribute toadditionalprojects and team initiatives asrequired

Qualifications:
While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
- Recently completed a post-secondary education in related field
- A strong interest in the not-for-profit sector
- Exceptional attention to detail organization and time management skills
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced collaborative team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools; experience with digital asset management systems or content platforms is an asset
- Familiarity or interest in leveraging AI-enabled enterprise tools (e.g. ChatGPT Enterprise Microsoft Copilot) to support productivity and content development is considered an asset.
- Exposure to SharePoint OneDrive or other document management and collaboration platforms is an asset.
Total Compensation Package:
Hiring Salary Range:$21.57/hour
Hours: 35-hour work week hybrid work model (Tuesdays and Wednesdays are in office days)
