Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario 65 km northwest of Fort Frances the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground gold and silver producing residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg Manitoba and Thunder Bay Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting fishing winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role
Schedule: Shift 14/14 12 hour days
Position Reports To: Electrical Supervisor
Position Overview
The Instrumentation & Control Technician is responsible for the installation calibration maintenance troubleshooting and optimization of instrumentation and process control systems throughout the mine and processing facilities.
Working as part of the Electrical Instrumentation & Automation team the Instrumentation Technician will provide technical expertise in instrumentation control systems process measurement and automation to support safe reliable and efficient mining and mineral processing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation commissioning calibration maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control equipment throughout the mining operation.
- Maintain and troubleshoot DeltaV DCS hardware I/O control loops alarms trends and associated field instrumentation.
- Maintain calibrate and troubleshoot instruments including; Pressure transmitters gas detectors flow meters level transmitters temperature transmitters and RTDs pH dissolved oxygen and cyanide analyzers.
- Perform instrument calibration using appropriate test equipment and document calibration results in accordance with site procedures.
- Troubleshoot 420 mA HART digital and discrete instrumentation circuits.
- Install terminate test and troubleshoot instrument cabling junction boxes marshalling panels and I/O systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain control valves and actuators including valve positioners and feedback systems.
- Assist with the commissioning and startup of new instrumentation control systems and process equipment.
- Provide technical support to operations maintenance electrical engineering and automation personnel.
- Troubleshoot industrial communication systems and instrumentation networks including Ethernet/IP Modbus HART and other applicable communication protocols.
- Identify recurring instrumentation and control problems and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records calibration documentation equipment histories and work orders.
- Follow all applicable Ontario mining legislation site standards electrical/instrumentation standards safe work procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Instrumentation and Control Technician certification
- Minimum 3 years of industrial instrumentation and control experience preferably within mining mineral processing or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of process instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience with DeltaV is required or strongly preferred.
- Experience with EndressHauser instrumentation is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret: P&IDs loop drawings electrical schematics control narratives and instrument datasheets
- Ability to safely use electronic test equipment calibration equipment process calibrators and associated instrumentation tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA considered an asset
- Ability to work independently while also working effectively with operations electrical maintenance engineering and automation teams.
- Valid drivers license.
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $118000 to $128000.
