- Internal Title: Construction Safety Director
- Provide strategic leadership direction and assurance of Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) across the Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE) covering both the Rail Stations and Systems and Advanced Tunnel ensuring a proactive safety culture and achievement of project outcomes.
- The role is accountable for integrating HSW requirements across the owner designer and constructor teams driving collaboration shared accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
1. Leadership & Culture
- Lead and promote a strong visible safety culture across the integrated SSE project team embedding safety-first behaviours at all levels
- Act as a senior leader within SSE governance forums providing direction on HSW strategy performance and risks
- Champion psychological safety wellbeing and near-miss reporting culture to drive proactive risk identification and learning
- Drive engagement initiatives across all delivery partners (STC client subcontractors) to ensure consistent standards and behaviours
2. PDB Integration & Collaboration
- Ensure HSW is fully integrated into the PDB delivery model influencing design development constructability and delivery approaches
- Collaborate across the owner designer and constructor to embed HSW requirements into evolving design and construction planning
- Provide leadership in resolving cross-functional HSW challenges through collaborative non-adversarial approaches aligned to PDB principles
- Support governance frameworks that clearly separate collaboration from formal commitment and maintain transparent decision-making
3. Strategy Systems & Assurance
- Develop and maintain the SSE Health Safety & Wellbeing Strategy and Assurance Plan
- Ensure implementation of compliant HSW management systems aligned with regulatory client and ISO standards
- Establish project-wide standards procedures and critical risk controls (e.g. Fatal Risk management audits inspections)
- Provide independent assurance through audits reviews and performance oversight across all packages
4. Performance & Risk Management
- Lead HSW performance monitoring including KPIs such as TRIR LTIFR and leading indicators
- Analyse trends and root causes (e.g. supervision competency process adherence) to inform targeted interventions
- Oversee incident management investigations and implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs)
- Ensure lessons learned are captured shared and embedded across project teams
5. Governance & Reporting
- Lead and/or contribute to SHW Leadership Team forums providing insight into emerging risks trends and improvement actions
- Provide clear concise reporting to Executive and Board-level stakeholders on HSW performance and risk exposure
- Support decision-making by ensuring safety implications are fully understood and considered in project changes
6. Contractor & Supply Chain Oversight
- Ensure all contractors and subcontractors comply with project HSW requirements standards and regulatory obligations
- Drive consistent implementation of HSW practices across all assets and packages
- Lead engagement with contractors to strengthen supervision competency and safety behaviours across the workforce
7. Training Competency & Capability
- Oversee HSW training competency frameworks and capability development across the project
- Ensure all personnel are appropriately trained competent and aware of risks prior to undertaking work
- Drive continuous improvement in frontline supervision capability and safety leadership

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
- 15 years experience in major infrastructure / construction projects
- Demonstrated leadership experience in complex multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience in integrated delivery models (PDB/IPD/alliancing) strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Ontario H&S legislation and ISO 45001 standards

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors which may include but are not limited to the specific office location role skill set and level of experience. As required by local law Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation based on full-time employment for roles that may be hired as set forth below.

The base pay range shown below is intended as a guideline to reflect the majority of offers for this role. It does not represent a maximum limit in some cases actual compensation may exceed the range where appropriate.
