Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis is currently seeking a licensed Industrial Electrician to join our skilled team in Kingston.

The Industrial Electrician works as part of a crossfunctional team to safely and efficiently perform preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns across a wide range of industrial manufacturing equipment.

The Industrial Electrician supports our Vision 3x30 by:

  • Carrying out preventive maintenance programs required to assure accurate functioning of temporary recorders and controllers thickness gauges ultra-sonic flow detectors flame sensors and relays gas analyzing instruments some density recorders flow meters tachometers and pneumatic instruments.
  • Installing repairing and testing electrical generating transmission systems and complicated computerized control systems.
  • Responding to unplanned equipment stoppages trouble-shooting in order to diagnose and correct problems.
  • Completing bench overhaul of some instruments.
  • Erecting and installing electrical conduit conductors and raceways.
  • Servicing and repairing a variety of high voltage switches O.C.B.s and plant transformers relating to power distribution systems.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing all types of industrial lighting systems.
  • Using specialized knowledge supports day to day LOTO and confined space requirements.

The successful Industrial Electrician will have:

  • 442A license preferred will also accept applicants with 309A license
  • Minimum three (3) years experience installing maintaining and troubleshooting:
    • AC and DC drives
    • PLCs
    • Switchgears
    • DC digital drives
    • Electrical Circuits
    • Motor Controls
    • Instrumentation
    • Electrical Drawings
  • Great interpersonal skills to tackle problems and support the team.
  • Experience using email to communicate and a willingness to learn and apply SAP Lotus Notes or other virtual databases.
  • A curiosity about continuing to develop skills and standard methodologies.
  • A desire to operate in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.

Our plant runs 24/7 to meet the demands of our customers which includes automotive and specialty products. The Maintenance team works either a 12-hour continental shift schedule OR 8 hour day shift Monday-Friday. Shift assignments are determined in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The starting hourly rate for this position will be administered at CAD $46.45 per hour. Increasing per the Collective Agreement.
