Job Summary

TheEntry-LevelMechanicalEngineer focuses on the design and engineering of HVAC and mechanicalutilities for buildings. Typical tasks and deliverables include load calculations utility assessments energy modeling design reports code evaluations plans schedules installation detailsequipment and system selection and specification and coordination with manufacturers and trade partners. Tasks will also include utilizing software for building information modelingcomputer-aided drafting and engineering workwill beunder the direction of a more experienced engineer andmayincludeall levels of design such as studies conceptual and schematic design design development constructiondocumentation and construction administration. 

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with clients and external partners 
  • Design mechanical systems (airside chilled water condenser water heating hot water steam natural gas compressed air etc.) of basic complexity in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines 
  • Preparation of design and construction deliverables 
  • Performs envelope and load calculations pressure drop calculations and other engineering calculations of basic complexity as required to confirm project requirements are met 
  • Conducts basic field investigations to integrate the design with existing systems and structures. 
  • Works closely with other architects engineers and designers as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated constructible and complete design 
  • Self-checks ones own work 
  • Attends professional development activities 
  • Utilizes various platforms to execute work such as Microsoft Office products Bluebeam Revu and available BIM software 
  • May work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a supervisor 

Qualifications :

  • ABET-accredited Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (with a mechanical focus) 
  • 0 to 3 years of experience preferably in a design firm setting 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD 
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam registration or completion 
  • LEED WELL or other sustainable design accreditation or pursuit or experience with sustainable design 
  • Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations and developing and implementing HVAC mechanical utility and piping systems designs 
  • Fundamental experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting  
  • Proficient with fundamental internal cross-discipline project team coordination
