Richard Bland College (RBC) is a residential two-year liberal arts transfer institution dedicated to launching students toward success at highly ranked colleges and universities. Often described as a hidden gem just beyond the Tri-Cities region RBC features a stunning 750 acre rural campus with protected wetlands peaceful forests and the Commonwealths oldest and largest pecan grovea truly unique setting to live work and compete.
RBC is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused HRIS & Payroll Coordinator to join our Human Resources team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely administration of payroll maintenance of HR data integrity reporting and analytics and support of key human resources operations. This role contributes to the Colleges operational efficiency regulatory compliance and commitment to excellent employee service.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration
Process semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for salaried wage and student employees.
Enter and audit payroll transactions in Cardinal HCM.
Process additional compensation including adjunct contracts faculty overloads stipends bonuses and supplemental pay.
Review timesheets and payroll exception reports to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
Coordinate with the Payroll Services Bureau to resolve payroll issues and meet reporting deadlines.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and assist with payroll audits.
HRIS & Reporting
Generate analyze and distribute HR and payroll reports.
Run queries and perform data analysis to identify trends discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
Audit personnel and payroll data to maintain system accuracy and integrity.
Partner with HR team members to support data-driven decision-making
HR Transaction Processing
Process personnel transactions including hires additional pay actions stipends bonuses adjunct contracts and faculty overload assignments.
Ensure personnel actions are entered accurately and in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities
Support procurement functions including requisitions and purchase orders through eVA.
Manage leave and timekeeping functions for AP Faculty.
Assist with recruitment activities records management and annual reporting requirements.
Serve as a backup to the HR Assistant and perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Considerable knowledge of payroll administration and transactions that align with the Commonwealth of Virginias pay structure HR policies and procedures and applicable federal state and instructional regulations.
Working knowledge of HRIS systems and payroll systems including data entry maintenance auditing reporting and records management.
Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Excellent customer service experience.
Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Considerations
Previous work experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia in higher education.
Experience using Cardinal HCM or similar HR/payroll systems.
