We also lead the growth of Albertas non-profit sport system as well as promote safe and welcoming environments for sport physical activity and recreation.
The Sport Tourism and Recreation (STAR) Division leads programming for the department. The Division is comprised of the Assistant Deputy Ministers office; the Sport Physical Activity and Recreation (SPAR) Branch; the Tourism Policy and Strategy Branch and the All-Season Resorts Branch. The STAR Division collaborates with many Government of Alberta Ministries and with a broad range of tourism sport physical activity and recreation modeling the Alberta Public Service Values the Grants Specialist has an essential role in collaborating with the SPAR branch other teams within the division as well as other ministries and stakeholders to obtain organizational goals.
The Grants Specialist position is located in the Policy and Grants Unit within the SPAR Branch. This position reports to the Manager Grants and Operations and supports the effective delivery and continuous improvement of the Active Communities Initiative Major Sport Events grant program and other initiatives administered by the unit.
This position will lead and support the administration of grant programs advancing improvements in program design and assessment processes including developing and updating technical program tools. It also plays a key role in analyzing program results and performance data and reporting on program outcomes. Working collaboratively within the unit this position supports the implementation of recommendations aimed at strengthening program effectiveness accountability and alignment with ministry priorities.
You will be required to:
Lead and support grant program delivery including application reviews and assessments and development of recommendations.
Design develop and maintain technical grant program tools including application workbooks assessment scorecards tracking systems and master data tables.
Provide program interpretation technical guidance and support to stakeholders.
Lead and support sector research analysis of grant program data performance measurement and reporting.
Ensure the Director Policy and Grants and Manager Grants and Operations are supported in achieving the mandate and goals of the Division and Ministry
The position requires in-depth problem-solving with a good understanding of SPARs grants programs and sector research. The Grants Specialist provides a wide range of services including leading and/or supporting the provision of advice research analysis and recommendations. The position requires the ability to work effectively and efficiently on diverse tasks and provide effective solutions and constructive advice on a regular basis.
