QUALIFICATIONS


Educational Requirements:

Candidates must have completed an MA degree in a field related to Human Geography/Disability Studies.


Experiential Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have knowledge of disability geography and disability studies. They should have experience of conducting research interviews and analyzing textual source material. Experience of doing research with disabled people is an asset. The position requires: a demonstrated ability to work independently; sound methodological judgment; project management skills; excellent communication and time-management skills; a CORE2 ethics certificate and knowledge of the research ethics system at UWaterloo; and the ability to complete work according to agreed-upon timelines with limited day-to-day supervision. The candidate will be expected to communicate regularly with the research team and seek guidance when necessary. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate citation and file management systems are essential. GRAs are required to be on campus while holding the position and available to meet with the supervisor in person as required.


Course Specific Requirements

The role involves creating a database of scholarly and grey literature using Zotero and other tools; data analysis skills including discourse analysis and thematic textual analysis; keeping record of bibliographic information inclusion and search terms and
other relevant methodological documentation; experience with or willingness to learn Zotero Trello Teams and Dropbox; shared preparation of a research ethics protocol; project management; preparing analytical summaries.


Compensation: $58.46 / hour plus 4% vacation pay (GRA Doctoral)
