GLELE – Labourer and Trades Helper (Temporary Help Services)
Job Summary
The National Research Council Canada (NRC) is seeking an experienced Labourer and Trades Helper (GLELE) to support facility operations and maintenance activities at its Saskatoon location. The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance minor repairs facility inspections inventory management contractor support and general operational duties while ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards.
- Perform lighting inspections and replace bulbs as required.
- Maintain inventory of electrical and maintenance components (ballasts filters etc.).
- Move assemble and install office furniture and fixtures.
- Conduct daily machinery inspections and record operational data.
- Change HVAC filters and monitor equipment gauges.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Complete minor plumbing repairs and building maintenance tasks.
- Replace ceiling tiles and perform door hardware adjustments.
- Assist with contractor supervision and site logistics coordination.
- Lift and move materials furniture and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Follow all safety procedures and NRC operational requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid WHMIS Certification.
- Ability to work safely at heights.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in:
- General Maintenance
- Facility Operations
- Safety Compliance
- General Maintenance
- Practical knowledge of:
- Mechanical Systems
- Plumbing Repairs
- Building Maintenance
- Mechanical Systems
- Fall Protection Certification
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Training
- Additional Occupational Health & Safety Certifications
- Experience in government commercial industrial or institutional facilities
Minimum 2 years performing similar duties including:
- Lighting inspections and bulb replacement
- Inventory management of maintenance supplies
- Furniture installation and office moves
- HVAC filter replacement and machinery inspections
- Operational data recording and monitoring
- Minor plumbing and maintenance repairs
- Door hardware adjustments
- Ceiling tile replacement
- Contractor coordination and supervision support

Mandatory Experience Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing duties similar to the following: Performing lighting inspections and bulb replacements. Maintaining inventory of electrical components (e.g. ballasts). Moving assembling and installing furniture and office fixtures. Conducting daily machinery inspections changing HVAC filters monitoring gauges and accurately recording operational data. Required Education:
