General Accounting Manager

The General Accounting Manager roleis within the General Ledger Accounting team based in Toronto and is part of the wider Arcadis Global Onshore and Accounting Finance community.
This role will be part of the team responsible for standardised financial reporting implementing and maintaining an effective and efficient framework of operational general ledger accounting and statutory compliance with established company policies generally accepted accounting principles and local regulations.
Working in the General Accounting team the role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting close activities for all Canadian entities that ultimately drives financial information and reporting on a monthly quarterly and yearly basis. This role includes but not limited to Onshore treasury operational activities and cash flow reporting.
Role accountabilities:
- Complete month-end quarter-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely financial and management reporting
- Perform more complex journal entries and reconciliations including consolidation activities.
- Effectively collaborate with Global Business Area Finance Teams Global Accounting teams and other cross-functional teams to ensure completeness and accuracy in transactions close process and translating accounting results into financial insights.
- Perform monthly analytical reviews of financial results including balance sheet and income statement fluctuations identifying risks unusual variances and key drivers
- Preparing monthly financial statements including balance sheet income statement cash flow statement other financial reports and key performance indicators for management and business stakeholders
- Assist with the Audits.
- Managing the Foreign Exchange impact and converting as appropriate
- Manage accounting and financial reporting activities for joint ventures/partnerships including preparation and review of partner reporting reconciliations equity accounting and compliance with applicable accounting standards
- Provide technical support on current accounting standards (such as IFRS 11) that have an impact on accounting operation
- Managing internal and external audit requirements and engaging with key stakeholders as appropriate
- Engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager and Arcadis.
Qualifications & Experience:
The candidate should have:
- Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience with degree in Accounting/Finance with recognized professional accounting qualification
- CPA/Chartered accountant required
- Excellent knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations
- Audit experience is an advantage
- Experience in financial accounting joint venture accounting General Ledger and/or in a multi-entity environment preferable
- Knowledge and experience in an international and multi-currency environment
- Oracle BST OneStream ERP systems and Excel high proficiency experience an advantage
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
