Job Summary

This hybrid role will allow an artist to progressively take on compositing tasks while supporting the FX department. For the compositing aspect the artist will be responsible for the core tasks of the department: importing color backgrounds reference animatics and audio as needed. Using the animatic and the animation they will assemble all elements and create camera movements as well as any other necessary animations.

Finally the artist will add the effects required for the scene such as tones highlights and shadows. Once compositing is complete they will be responsible for rendering and generating delivery files.

Responsibilities:

  • Comp and render animated scenes and film sequences.
  • Apply camera movements mattes color corrections and special effects (FX).
  • Create FX in partnership with the FX Lead.
  • Demonstrate strong capabilities in creating visual effects and assist in developing FX presets.
  • Video editing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve both technical and creative issues.
  • Manage rendered files and ensure strict adherence to naming conventions.
  • Determine project needs in collaboration with the Supervisor and Leads.
  • Meet deadlines and milestones set by production.

Qualifications :

  • Strong compositing and FX skills in Toon Boom Harmony.
  • Excellent technical foundations: keying rotoscoping tracking projections paint and color correction.
  • A keen eye for detail composition light and color.
  • Ability to take direction and work efficiently.
  • Minimum of 3 years of production experience in film TV series or advertising.
  • Experience with the Adobe Suite is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • A continuous willingness to expand skill sets by learning new software and techniques.
  • Experience with multi-pass render compositing.
  • Position open to Quebec residents only.
